Tour De France Trip – 1st July 2012 – 21st July 2012
2012 Tour, 2012 Tour Intinerary
- 1st July - Depart Australia
- 2nd July - Arrive France, Coach transfer from Lyon to Le Cheylard, our home base for the next 3 weeks departs Lyon Airport at 12.00 midday
- 3rd July - Settle into village, light training ride
- 4th July – Market Day in Le Cheylard - Buy your fresh cheese's and local delicacies and enjoy with a glass of wine.
- 5th July – Explore Local rides, get the jet lag out of the legs.
- 6th July – Relax and have a local ride through the Ardeche.
- 7th July - Relax and have a local ride through the Ardeche.
- 8th July – Time to up the training a bit in preparation for Mont Ventoux.
- 9th July -Explore Local rides around the Ardcehe. Prepare your bikes for the next days departure
- 10th July – Early depature for Mont Ventoux by coach transfer with your bikes. Climb the famous Mont Ventoux, Lunch and then a coach transfer to our hotel in Vif, our base in the Alpes for the Alpine TDF stages. Do you have what it takes? - Climb the famous TDF stage of Mont Ventoux. - A great day trip, lots of fun or heartache.
- 11th July – Today is a rest day for the TDF, we will use this day to climb Alpe D'Huez or any other locals climbs that you want to attempt.
- 12th July – Ride to the mountain stage finish at La Toussuir for stage 11 of the TDF and then have our coach collect us and return us to Vif dinner.
- 13th July -Ride from our hotel in Vif to the stage finish at Annonay for stage 12 of the TDF, approximately 120 klms, and then have our coach collect us and return us to our base at Le Cheylard for dinner.
- 14th July - Ride from Le Cheylard down the valley, to the stage start at Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateuax for stage 13 of the TDF, approximately 120 klms, and then have our coach collect us and return us to our base at Le Cheylard for dinner.
- 15th July - Relax and have a local ride through the Ardeche.
- 16th July - A great day in the Ardeche with a superb ride to the Gerbier de Jonc. Altitude 1,600m.
- 17th July – Light ride to market day in La Mastre, a hilltop village, light lunch and ride home. What a great day !
- 18th July - Market Day in Le Cheylard - Buy your fresh cheese's and local delicacies and enjoy with a glass of wine.
- 19th July - Get the map out, explore local rides, tourists from all over Europe come to the Ardeche for its beauty and outdoor lifestyle.
- 20th July - Training ride through the Ardeche and pack those bags, during this period you are free to travel around Europe if you wish to make plans.
- 21st July - End of tour, at this stage you can depart to see more of Europe or return home by coach transfer to Lyon.
- During any of the training days, you can also make your way to Paris or any other city in Europe to explore the wonders that Europe has to offer.
Inclusive of transfers ex Lyon, accomodation, transfers and excursions to the Alpine stages and other stages, hotel accomodation whilst at the Alpine stages and two meals a day.

Bike Hire Available for an extra $ 300 for the duration of the trip. All hire bikes are up to date, road bikes of a good standard.

Canal Du Midi Trip 12th August - 25th August 2012 Groups between 4-10
- 12th August - Depart Australia
- 13th August - Arrive France, Coach transfer from Lyon to Le Cheylard, our home base in the Ardeche Region of France. Our home base is a 400 year old house that I use as a base for my trips, relax for the rest of the day, a good meal and sleep.
- 14th August - Settle into village, light training ride
- 15th August – Market Day in Le Cheylard - Buy your fresh cheese's and local delicacies and enjoy with a glass of wine. Have a light ride and relax.
- 16th August – Have a light ride, pack for our trip and prepare your paniers. Whatver you do not need on the trip can be left at our base.
- 17th August – After an early start and breakfast we will travel by coach to Toulouse. We shall check into our hotel for the night, explore the town of Toulouse and finish the evening with dinner in the town centre.
- 18th August - After breakfast we commence our trip along the canal. Todays stage is approximately 60klm of easy riding on a good surface. Along the way we still stop for lunch and a coffee along the canal side. Our first stop is Castalaundry, the town made famouse for its cullinary master piece "La Cassoulet". Our hotek for the night has this dish as its speciality so enjoy and wash down with a fine glass of red wine.
- 19th August – After breakfast we continue on our next stage to the world famous medival castle of Carcasonne. The ride is about 50klm with lots of things to see along the way. On arrival we book into our hotel, visit the castle and the medival walled city, spend the day sightseeing finishing off with dinner in the medival walled city.
- 20th August - We will spend a 2nd day in Carcasonne as a rest day as there is so much to see and do finishing up with us all meeting again for dinner.
- 21st August - We depart after Breakfast to continue along the canal to Homps, a beautiful picturesque village. The stage is approximately 50 klm stopping for lunch and coffee. Again we will arrive at our hotel situated on the banks of the canal. The food and wine at this hotel is to die for !
- 22nd August - Our trip continues along the canal through vinyards, a chance to do a little wine tasting along the way. This stage is approximately 50 klms and takes us to the small village of Port - De Capestane. It is a beautiful canal town with many bars and restraunts waiting for us to sample.
- 23rd August - After Breakfast we ride to Port - De - Colombiers, we shall have morning tea, visit the local winery and test that it is up to scratch before making our way to our final destination, the world famous heritage listed locks of Beziers. Here our coach will collect us and return us back to our base in the Ardeche.
- 24th August - Relax and take in the beautiful scenery or the Ardeche, pack bags and prepare for departure the following day.
- 25th August - Coach transfer back to Lyon for your trip home or continue your travels through Europe.
Inclusive of transfers ex Lyon, accomodation, transfers and excursions to the Canal Du Midi, hotel accomodation whilst on the Canal Du Midi and two meals a day.

Accomodation in the hotels is Twin share, whilst based at Le Cheylard most accomdation is dormintory style however we offer two apartments for couples on a first booked basis.
